more about my lectures

i need to get 30ECTS and this is why i had to choose 9 lectures :)
exam in finnished i passed about month ago, and i got 5 :) (2ECTS)
today is the last day of Introduction to Studying Multimedia Authoring System (3ECTS)
of every lecture there are 3 exams, we have to choose good time and to sign up at least one week before deadline :)

another lectures:

1. Cultural Aspects of Management

Organiser: Faculty of Public Administration
Credits: 5 ECTS credits
Objective: The course develops understanding of public management as culturally based
practice. The emphasis is on national and organizational cultures.
Completion of the course: Exam based on
lectures and literature, workshops
First time of exam is 10.03. (i will be in Poland :P)

2. Culture, History and Identity

Credits: 5 ECTS credits
Objective: The course develops understanding of different cultures and their relation to cultural and historical backgrounds.
Course content: The course introduces the concepts of culture, history, and identity and explores them from the cultural studies’ point of view. The course examines a few examples of different European cultures.
Methods of study: Lectures 24 hours
Completion of the course: Studia Generalia lectures and independent studying. Exam based on the lectures and literature.

3. Semiotics and Cultural Research Methods

Credits: 5 ECTS credits
Objective: The course familiarizes the students with semiotics and cultural studies.
Course content: Basic concepts of semiotics. The major schools and methods of semiotics. An overview of the main movements of cultural research.
Methods of study: Lectures 20 hours or selfstudy
Completion of the course: (Take-home) exambased on lectures and/or literature.

4. Introduction to studying Multimedia Authoring Systems

Credits: 3 ECTS credits
Objective: To acquaint students with studies in Multimedia Authoring Systems programme and to provide students with skills and information to improve their academic performance.
Course content: General information about :
1) studies in Multimedia Authoring systems and about the student’s own study in the programme;
2) the computing facilities and services offered by the University of Vaasa;
3) information retrieval;
4) portfolio assessment;
5) guidelines of academic writing.
Methods of study: Exercises 8 hours
Completion of the course: Participation in exercises and an accepted presentation

5. Introduction to Multimedia and Hypertext

Credits: 3 ECTS credits
Objective: Goal is to offer basic historical and technical information concerning multimedia and hypertext. Approach is mainly theoretical, but also some practical applications are presented.
Course content: An introduction to the theoretical background of hypertext, multimedia and hypermedia as well as the applications of hypermedia.
Methods of study: Lectures 20 hours
Completion of the course: Exam

6. Project

Credits: 5 ECTS credits
Objective: To apply the learned techniques and software in practice.
Course content: Each student conducts an individual multimedia project using the skills acquired during the programme. Students are encouraged to select their own subjects according to their study field. Instead of a multimedia presentation the project can consist of an extensive essay about the theoretical foundations of multi- and hypermedia from the point of viewof their field of study.
Methods of study: Lectures 10 hours andindependent studying
Completion of the course: An accepted projectwork

7. Introduction to Electronic Publishing

Credits: 4 ECTS credits
Objective: To give the student the ability to create and maintain www-pages based on html and css. The student is also able to use the basic features of the digital image processing application used during the course. Also theories concerning presenting information in information networks are discussed.
Course content: Creating www-pages. Introduction to present and future ways of communication especially on the Internet. An introduction to the digital image and digital image processing.
Methods of study: Lectures, 30 hours
Completion of the course: Active participation in the lectures and an accepted presentation

8. Introduction to Cultural Studies

Organiser: Faculty of Humanities
Credits: 5 ECTS credits
Objective: The course familiarizes the student with the fields of cultural studies.
Course content: An overview of the main movements of cultural studies and research.
Methods of study: Lectures 20 hours or selfstudy
Completion of the course: (Take-home) exam based on lectures and/or literature.
